Steve Gagne was born and raised in Bristol and grew up on Federal Hill. Steve attended the following schools in Bristol: Westwoods, Paterson, Bingham, Memorial Boulevard, and Bristol Central. Steve moved to Glastonbury in his Sophomore year of high school and wouldn’t return again until 1991 while in the Marine Corps.
Following the Marine Corps, Steve interned for Picozzi & the Horn at WHCN in Hartford, where he met The BEAT’s future morning host Curtis Kaplan. Steve moved out to Los Angeles in 1997 with his now wife Jodi Zils Gagne so she could attend law school. While in California he has had done some background work as an extra in several TV shows and movies. They returned to Connecticut on the winter of 2002 and in 2003, Steve graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. He interned once again for Piccozzi at WCCC in Hartford and the exact same building which once was the home for WHCN on Asylum Avenue.
He worked for a few years at the CBS radio station, 96.5 WTIC in Farmington as a part time on air personality. In 2015, Steve got in touch with Stephen Wayne from WCCC and recommended a radio engineer to help build what is now Bristol’s Rock Mix… The BEAT!
