Nothing is scarier than something happening to home (or near home)
A lot of us Connecticut residents venture to New York on a daily basis and it was extremely nerve-racking knowing that there was a wanted fugitive wandering around the area.
“Ahmad Khan Rahami, earlier named a person of interest in the weekend explosions in New York City and New Jersey, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. He is also charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Rahami was taken into custody and hospitalized this morning after a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey, the Union County acting prosecutor said today. He has been “directly linked” to the devices used in the New York and New Jersey explosions on Saturday, FBI official Bill Sweeney said. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said this afternoon there is “every reason to believe this was an act of terror.” ” – abc News

Rahami is said to be directly linked to the explosions in New York and New Jersey, however he is now not cooperating. The suspect is not even confirming his name, let alone his actions involving the explosions. Reports are saying that the FBI are making progress in questioning, however this remains to be seen.
President Obama had this to say, “We will continue to lead the global coalition on the fight to destroy [ISIS], which is instigating a lot of people over the internet to carry out attacks. We are going to continue to go after them. We’re going to take out their leaders. We’re going to take out their infrastructure. They are continuing to lose ground in Iraq and in Syria, and later today I’ll be meeting with Prime Minister [Haider al-]Abadi of Iraq to discuss the need to sustain that momentum.” – abc News

What to take away from this story is that no matter what happens, we are strong together! No matter what, we will get through this hard time. Most of this is due to our men in blue. Our police, FBI, and Investigation Units are who to thank for keeping these attacks from getting out of control.
